How does concrete compare to granite?
Concrete is very similar to granite in terms of physical properties. It’s a hard, durable countertop surface, and it weighs about the same as granite. It is templated  and installed just like granite. The main difference is the look.

Do concrete countertops stain and require a lot of maintenance?
Concrete countertops actually behave similar to granite in this regard. Granite countertops are also porous and have to be sealed and maintained. Most people don’t realize this, because granite is usually to dark and patterned to show stains. 
     TTS designs sealer is 99% stain resistant. Most foods, oils, acids, and cleaning products will not stain the concrete. Our sealer does not degrade and therefore does not need to be reapplied like many other sealers. Our sealer is EPA and FDA compliant with no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds).

Do I need extra reinforcement for my cabinets to hold the weight of the concrete?
No, concrete weighs about the same as granite on per square foot basis.

I’ve heard that concrete countertops can crack?
Properly made concrete countertops will not develop structural cracks. In fact, our countertops are warranted against it.

Why are concrete countertops so expensive? It’s just concrete.
It’s the craftsmanship and work that go into it. Its like the reason a violin cost more than a wooden pallet– the same material, but different levels of craftsmanship.
